This course provides an overview of the field of early childhood education. The course explores the historical and philosophical foundation of early education and care and developmentally appropriate practices related to learning and development. Students examine the role of the teacher in terms of developing classroom communities, using teaching strategies, planning curriculum, assessing learning and development, and building relationships with children, families, and communities.

• Class Capacity: 18 trainees
• Location: Online for Kennebec, Knox, and Somerset County Residents
• This course meets via Zoom for a 3-hour session on 9/21, 10/12, & 11/2 from 5pm-8pm. Attending these sessions is required.
