First Day® Complete Program

What is the First Day® Complete program?
First Day® Complete is a course materials fulfillment program that lowers the cost of course materials and ensures students have their required course materials on the first day of class.
How does it work?
  • Register for your classes and the bookstore will start preparing your course materials
  • One month before classes start, you will receive an email instructing you to select your delivery preference (in-store pickup or shipped directly to you)
  • An email notification will be sent when your order is ready for pickup or when it ships
  • Your digital materials will be delivered for your course(s) within Brightspace
Which programs are not eligible to take advantage of First Day Complete?
The following program are not participating in First Day Complete: Applied Electrical and Computer Technology (ETC), Culinary Arts (CUL), Early Childhood (ECE), Health Information Management (HIT), Medical Assisting (MAS), Nursing (NUR), Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTS), Physical Therapy Assistant (PTS), Radiologic Technology (RAD), Respiratory Therapy (RTS). Classes within these programs with the course code abbreviation listed above are excluded. All other classes are part of First Day Complete.
What is excluded from the program?
The program does not include consumables that cannot be returned and reused, such as lab goggles, dissection kits, or nursing kits.
How do I enroll in the program?
All eligible students will be automatically enrolled in the First Day® Complete Program.
Can I opt out of the program?
Students can opt out of the program by using the following link beginning August 6th: https://sso.bncollege.com/bes-sp/bessso/saml/kvccedu/fdcopt/logon

Payment

How do I pay for my textbook rentals under this program?
The First Day Complete program cost will be $24 per credit hour for courses you are enrolled in each semester. The cost is billed through your Kennebec Valley Community College student account and requires no direct out-of-pocket expense for students.

Materials

What is included in the program?
The program provides all required textbooks, lab manuals, access codes and digital textbook versions to eligible students.
Can I buy my rented textbook?
Yes, the program provides you with the option to purchase textbooks at a reduced rate during the return period.
Do I need to return books if they are for a continuation course?
Yes, you will still be required to return continuation course textbooks. You will be issued the same title for the next semester of the continuation course.
What happens if I do not return the books by the due date?
Textbook rentals are due the last day of finals and are expected to be returned by the deadline. The bookstore reserves the right to require students to pay a rental replacement fee and/or identify students as ineligible for the First Day Program in future semesters if they do not return their textbook rentals.
When are my textbook rentals due back to the bookstore?
The deadline to return all rental textbooks is the last day of finals. Students will receive email reminders about the rental deadline to their email address.
