Basic Searching

1. Enter one or more keywords to search for. The results will list any documents that contain all of the entered keywords. Ex: computer science will return all pages that contain both the word computer and the word science.

2. To search for an exact phrase, surround the phrase with double-quotes. Ex: "computer science" will find all pages containing the phrase computer science.

3. Do not use the reserved words "AND" "OR" "NEAR" "NOT" in your search unless they are enclosed in quotes. Example: peanut butter "and" jelly.

4. The search will ignore common words such as "the" "a" "I" "we" "they".

Advanced Searching

1. Place the word OR between your keywords if you would like to find pages that contain either of the entered keywords. Ex: computer OR science will return all pages that have either the word computer or the word science in them.

2. Place the word NEAR between your keywords if you would like to find pages that have the two keywords within 50 words of each other. Ex: computer NEAR science.

3. Place the word NOT before any keyword that you do not want to appear in the search results. Ex: computer NOT science will return all pages that contain the word computer and do not contain the word science.

4. Use the wildcard * to search on partial words. Ex: nurs* would return paging containing the words nurse or nursing.
