Community Day

                      Community Day 2017

Get Connected. Stay Connected!

Tuesday, August 29th

9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Community Day provides a chance for students who are new to the College or new to their academic program to connect with Faculty, Staff and other Students at KVCC. You will learn more about the program of study you are entering and have a chance to ask questions of the faculty who will be teaching in your field. We look forward to seeing all new students on this day!!

Check-in begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 8:45 a.m. Plan to join us early that day for the best parking! This event is for students only.

Community Day reminder postcards

will be mailed in August.

Community Day

Commonly asked questions

We strongly encourage new students to attend.  It is a one-time event and appears as FYE-010 on your class schedule as a reminder. We think it's so important to meet other students in your program, your faculty and begin to build that sense of community.  All research tells us that students who are engaged and connected tend to excel and finish their programs!

In the fall, Community Day is held rain or shine!

In January, the weather is a little more unpredictable.  In the event of a bad storm or slippery roads, we may need to cancel the event.

A snow date is in place for the next day.

This day is for you!  We ask that only the student attend.

We ask that students not bring their children. This day is focused on YOU!

All new students will be in attendance.

This event appears on your course schedule as "FYE 010".  This is there to serve as a reminder for you.  It is a one-time event, NOT a class.

Dress comfortably. Bring any documents you need to submit (immunizations, financial aid papers,etc.).  All offices will be open for you to complete any tasks before the semester begins.

Leave the rest to us...we will supply water, coffee, snack, lunch, and of course, the fun!

The College Store will be open.  Students may pick up their books after Community Day ends.

  • If you are a financial aid recipient, you may purchase your books with your pending aid.  Your name must appear on the Financial Aid list maintained by the College Store.
  • If you applied for financial aid recently, your award may not be complete yet. Students will need to pay for their books out of pocket.
  • Bring a printed copy of your semester schedule. The staff in the College Store will need this to find the right books for you!
  • The College Store will be open until 6 p.m. on this day.
