Thanks to the many sponsors, contributors, and guests the annual KVCC Foundation Jazz Gala celebrates KVCC students and programs and unites business and community members together in support of students. Nearly 80% of KVCC students meet federal low-income guidelines, in fact the average family income for these students is $20,984. Although the majority of KVCC students receive financial aid, the burden of unmet financial need is staggering. Funds raised through the Jazz Gala do make a true difference in empowering a student to persist in their studies and achieve their academic and career aspirations.

An Evening of Jazz features a Jazzy performance by the Colby/KVCC Jazz Band, live and silent auctions, a scrumptious meal, social networking, and a spotlight on KVCC students and programs.

Sponsors, Guests, and Auction Item Contributors truly make the event a success.

TWO WEEKS BEFORE MY WEDDING DAY. AT AGE 24. I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH BREAST CANCER.

Jessica Abrams KVCC Nursing Class of 2014

"During my treatments, which included two mastectomies and reconstructive surgery, six months of chemotherapy, five weeks of radiation therapy, one year of Herceptin infusions, and several years of hormone therapy, I received exceptional and compassionate care from my nurses. When caring for someone who is very sick, kindness matters. I want to give back in any way that I can. Providing care as a nurse is a dream of mine because I find a lot of joy in helping others and I feel a responsibility to give back to my community.

Today, I am enrolled in the Nursing Program at KVCC. I am now a second year student and very anxious to graduate in May! I also help run the first-year nursing students' lab, a true honor which I enjoy and find that it helps me as much as the other students. I am also considered cancer free!

Going to school full time in itself can be financially difficult, however, years of cancer treatments have certainly taken a financial toll on my husband and I, especially since I was diagnosed right before our wedding day. So times have been hard, but thanks to your generosity and support my dreams and goals are within reach. I can't express in words how much that truly means to me."
