Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) serves as the Northeast training provider for the Solar Instructor Training Network (SITN).  SITN is a U.S. Department of Energy program designed to provide solar photovoltaic (PV) training to instructors across the United States to help facilitate the creation of a well-trained and highly qualified solar energy workforce to meet the needs of the solar industry.

In 2013, KVCC began offering a two-year training program for faculty throughout the  seven state region of New England and New York.  KVCC has established relationships with career and technical high schools, community colleges, baccalaureate institutions, trade apprenticeship and union training programs that have existing training programs in: electrical technology, construction/building technology, and engineering.  Faculty from these institutions take a variety of online and hands-on courses focused on solar PV and techniques for incorporating this growing technology into their classes.
