Career Decision Making

There are 3 steps in career decision-making

1) Get to know yourself better. (click here to see three assessments you can take on line)

2) Identify & research occupations which match your strengths. (click here for websites to help you research)

You should also use interviews, videos, job shadows, etc.. to research and then make your plan on how you will reach your goals. click here.

If you want to check out majors here at KVCC that relate to your interests, you can check my  "How do I choose a major" hyperlink on the first page of my website.

3) Make a plan. After you've done some research  (above in step 2) you need to try to personalize it in order to help you make a quality decision.  What is your goal? Where do you want to be in 5 years? How are you going to get there? What do you need to do in 2 years? 1 year? 6 months?

Please do not assume that you can "career counsel" yourself! See a Career Counselor or Career Development Facilitator to help you assess your specific situation.

If you are a matriculated / degree student at KVCC, you can make an appointment to see me.

If you would like to be a student at KVCC, you should contact Jim Bourgoin at 453-5160.
