Purpose

The purpose of the First Year Committee is to:

• engage the campus community in the First Year Experience
• support first year students with their transition to Kennebec Valley Community College
• encourage the development of opportunities for students to meet the expectations of the First Year Experience.

Responsibilities

1. Organize Community Day
2. Support one professional development activity per academic year
3. Establish FY learning outcomes and promote inclusion into First Year courses (All 100 level)
4. Coordinate co-curricular activities to support the expectations of the First Year
5. Propose annual campus theme/common read suggestions to the President for selection, and support implementation.
6. Monitor communication and activities related to transition to KVCC
