How do I become a member?

Phi Theta Kappa membership is based on academic achievement.  An invitation to membership is extended by the College to those students who have completed 12 semester hours of associate degree coursework, with a Grade Point Average of at least 3.5, and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.

Can part-time students be invited to become members?

Yes, if they have accumulated the number of hours required by the College to designate full-time status.

What about students who attend college in the United States but who are not citizens of this country?

International students are welcome to become members.  They must have achieved a 3.5 GPA, accumulated 12 semester hours of associate degree coursework, and possess all rights of citizenship in their native land.

What about fees?

Members pay a one-time membership fee of $52.00 which enrolls them in the organization on the local, regional and international levels.

How much time will being a member take?

The time a member devotes to Phi Theta Kappa is a matter of individual choice.  Some Phi Theta Kappa members choose to devote many hours to chapter activities; others may elect not to participate at all.  Phi Theta Kappa’s Constitution requires only that a prospective inductee make and maintain certain GPAs.  No service activities may be required of members; nor can the chapter withhold any benefits (i.e., receiving scholarship recommendations; wearing honors stole).

What if I move after being inducted into Phi Theta Kappa?  How do I update my address with Headquarters?

Members and other Society constituents can easily update their address information with Headquarters by using the On-Line Change of Address Form at: www.ptk.org
