Child Policy

This letter is to explain the computer policy on children. While we recognize that many children are familiar with the new technology, the computer labs are strictly for student use. Children in the labs must be with their parent (s) and must not be allowed to disturb others who are trying to complete assignments. If you cannot keep your children quiet we will have to ask you to leave immediately.

Kids are kids so it's unfair to them, you, and everyone else in the lab to expect them to sit quietly while you do your assignments. Even the best of kids are going to get fidgety and fussy. By far the best solution is to leave your children in a safe environment while you come to the lab and this is exactly what we would prefer you do whenever possible.

If You Must Bring Your Children to the Lab:

1. Keep your visits as short as possible.
2. Stay with your child at all times. Your child's safety and conduct is your responsibility, no one else's.
3. Bring something with which to quietly entertain your child. Coloring, reading, and listening to tapes (using earphones) are favorites.
4. Take regular breaks with your children. Every 20 minutes or so take the kids outside to play or run on the grass with them. This one will help you as much as it does them.
5. Keep your sense of humor. If all the above fail, remember that your children come first.
6. Use of lab computers by children is strictly prohibited. Computer support will not take responsibility for any child viewing materials parents deem inappropriate.
