Weatherization Technician – I

Course Description
The 40 hour Weatherization Technician I course, will prepare students for
entry level jobs in the weatherization industry. Students will learn about
understanding energy movement in buildings, buildings as a science,
ventilation and indoor air quality, framing types and energy flow, surface
and air transported heat loss, R and U values, the building envelope and
rules, air sealing and insulating techniques, weatherization materials and
installation techniques, blower doors, infrared imaging and building
diagnostic tools.
A significant focus is placed on safety as well as weatherization quality
control and quality testing procedures. Students will also complete the O.S.H.A. ten hour safety certification training.
Laboratory exercises will cover hands on experience in:
- Proper procedures for installation of air sealing, insulation and
weatherization materials
- Blower door and manometer set up and operation
- Infrared imaging
- Safety procedures and proper use of personal protective equipment
Cost: $650.00 per person (includes all text, meals and materials)

Kim or Jillienne 24 hours prior to class to be eligible for a refund.
A minimum number of students will be required for each class. Consideration
for cancellation will be made the Thursday prior to the start of class.
