Adult Mental Retardation Services

Developed by The Behavioral Health Sciences Institute for the Department of Health and Human Services, this curriculum will act as a standard for students across the state when working with agencies who have Mental Retardation or Autism clients. The course covers such topics as: Overview of Developmental Disabilities, Rights of People with Mental Retardation and Autism, Confidentiality, Guardianship, Choice and Responsibility, Being part of a Community, Planning with People, Documentation, Communication, Human Behavior, Human Sexuality, Teaching People, and Health and Safety. Upon successful completion the student will receive a certificate of completion issued by the Behavioral Health Sciences Institute, and will be placed on the state wide list of Certified DSP’s.
