Students will gain hands-on experience using the AutoCAD micro-based CADD software, micro-computers, and input devices.
Pre/Co-requisites: Computer
Introduction w/ Windows-XP, such as CPT117. Recommended knowledge of
drafting language. A drafting course such as BPT125 or BPT126 is desirable.
CAD242 Intermediate AutoCAD 3 Credits
This course will provide the student with the concepts, principles, and
techniques necessary to create advanced level AutoCAD drawings. Topics will
include dimensional variables, construction methods, custom line types,
creation and use of prototype drawings, management of drawing files,
advanced use of symbols, menu creations, advanced plotting techniques, and
using viewpoint with viewports.
Pre/Co-requisites: CAD140, or
equivalent AutoCAD training or experience. Either BPT125 or BPT126 Blueprint
Reading, or drafting abilities/experience required.
CAD243 Advanced AutoCAD 3 Credits
This course will provide the student with full professional level AutoCAD
drawing and print management techniques. Students will be introduced to and
will develop skills in the creation of 3-D SOLID models. The emphasis will
be placed on editing these 3-D SOLIDS using boolean operations. AutoCAD's
paper space and viewport settings will be used by the student to display 3-D
SOLID objects at various perspective viewing planes.
Pre/Co-requisites: CAD140, or
equivalent AutoCAD training or experience. Either BPT125 or BPT126 Blueprint
Reading, or drafting abilities/experience required.
CAD244 Experiential Education 3 Credits
This course will provide the student with practical hands-on experience in
the CADD field. Students are placed in a business or government agency. This
supervised and evaluated activity will enable students to apply their
classroom experiences in a real world environment.
Pre/Co-requisites: To participate in CAD244 Experiential Education, all CADD Certificate Program students must meet the following requirements: 1) Must have completed and maintained at least a 2.0 GPA in the following first semester courses: CAD140, BPT125, BPT126. 2) Must be currently enrolled in or have completed the following courses: CPT117, MAT218, CAD242, CAD243.
