INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY/COMPUTING

KVCC’s Technology staff is committed to providing information technology hardware and software to support academic excellence and personal growth.

To achieve this, nine computer labs are utilized to deliver both general education and program specific course offerings. All classrooms are equipped with

high resolution data projectors to enhance instructor and student presentation. In addition, a monitored open lab provides students access to the College’s

networked resources six days and five evenings a week. Specialized labs are also available in many program areas as well as a small lab in the Mickey

Marden Center for Student Success and a larger lab in Lunder Library. To support faculty and staff, there is also a lab dedicated to faculty/staff training.

Professional staff members are available to students and college personnel for technology-related assistance during the College’s normal hours of operation.

A toll-free (in Maine) hotline is available for limited support during off-hours.
Students matriculated at KVCC will be required to use Blackboard in association with many of their required courses. Blackboard is a course tool which allows

students access to course content anywhere there is an Internet connection. Orientations to Blackboard are offered on a continuous basis in both group and

one-on-one format. All matriculated students are issued a KVCC ID card. Undeclared students can purchase a card for a small fee. This card is necessary to

access computer labs on campus. The front of the card possesses the student’s photo, library barcode, program designation and e-mail address. College

personnel use KVCC e-mail exclusively to communicate with students concerning College business. Students are responsible for checking this e-mail, on a

regular basis, throughout the year. Wireless access to the KVCC network is available across campus with a valid student/staff login.
