An educated person
possesses the knowledge about self, about the world we live in, and the history
that has led us to where we are. Beyond this knowledge, the educated
person is a lifelong learner, seeking new knowledge wherever and whenever
possible. This individual practices the skills of his or her profession in
a conscientious, responsible and accountable manner. In addition, this
person possesses the communication and interpersonal skills necessary to speak
and write clearly, effectively, and persuasively.
An educated person
listens to others' ideas respectfully and thoughtfully and accepts them or
rejects them on the basis of clear and logical thinking. This person
utilizes resources and technology to find information both personally and
professionally. He or she possesses the analytical skills needed to solve
problems and make decisions. As an involved member of the community, this
person possesses values that enable him or her to show tolerance and respect for
cultural, ethnic and intellectual diversity.
