Admission Requirements


The PTA Program welcomes applications for admission from prospective students of all ages and backgrounds. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. All applicants are considered individually and are accepted for admission in the fall semester only. Class size is limited to a maximum of twenty-four students.

To apply for admission to the PTA Program at KVCC you must…


1. Complete and file a KVCC application in the Admissions Office
2. Submit the non-refundable application fee of $20 made payable to

    KVCC
3. Request official high school transcript, high school equivalency

    diploma or GED certificate
4. Request official college transcripts from previously attended
5. For applicants with English as a second language, request TOEFL

    scores

In order to be accepted into the PTA program, applicants must meet the following Program Admission Requirements:

1. Computer literacy (comparable to CPT117 Software Applications I)

2. Pre-requisite courses with a minimum grade of “C” taken within the

    last five years:

    a. Algebra at the high school or college level (waived if MAT114
       College Math is passed with a minimum grade of "C")
    b. Biology with a laboratory
    c. Chemistry with a laboratory

3. Pre-admission clinical experiences in physical therapy practice:

    a. Work, volunteering, or job shadowing a physical therapist or

        physical therapist assistant.
    b. Exposure to physical therapy practice in at least two different

        settings.
    c. Each experience must be documented and a minimum four hours

        in duration.

4. Entrance examination: Health Occupations Basic Entrance Test

   (HOBET)
    a. Acceptable scores in reading comprehension, and mathematical skills.

5. Group Informative Session with PTA faculty or documented viewing

    of Informational Session on the PTA website

The PTA Program’s Admission’s Committee reviews all applicants to the PTA Program who meet the college’s General Admission Requirements. Those applicants who also meet the program’s Admission Requirements will be accepted if space is available. Once the class is full, applicants will be waitlisted by date of application.
