Students Should Know: I love working with nursing students and helping them become caring and skilled professionals. I believe that nursing students need to learn how to take care of themselves as part of their education so that they can create and maintain balance in their personal and work lives after graduation. I teaching the nursing role and communication portions of the nursing curriculum.   I also teach the content related to psychiatric/mental health nursing, as well as, facilitate the mental health clinical portions of the curriculum.  I am the course coordinator for NUR224 the third semester nursing course. I serve as the Faculty Liaison for the fourth semester preceptorship experience in NUR227.  I team teach, with Marcia Parker, the two role transition courses, NUR124 for LPNs returning to become RNs and NUR229 a course for senior students to prepare them to practice as ADNs.  I enjoy helping nursing students refine their therapeutic interaction skills and helping them use these skills in their own unique way. I believe that these communication skills are the foundation of caring in nursing.
