Academic Advising

Role of Academic Advising

Students enrolled in a degree, diploma, or certificate program are assigned an academic advisor who will assist the student in course selection and offer general information concerning the student’s academic life. Each semester, during a designated registration period, students will meet with their advisors and register for the next semester. Students should contact their advisors as often as necessary to make certain they are taking courses that are appropriate to their academic program and career plans. The advisor must be consulted before students add or drop courses or change their program of study.
Students should monitor their own academic progress. Descriptions of specific courses are in this catalog and on the KVCC website; additional copies, as well as alternate forms of this publication, may be obtained in the Admissions Office. Program guides which list specific course requirements for each academic program are available in the Advising and Career Center in Carter Hall.
