Book & Video Search Tips

The mission of Lunder Library is to facilitate physical and electronic access to information services for the changing needs of a diverse population.

On Campus

  • Login to the KVCC network.
  • Click on Internet Explorer.
  • Go to library web page (http://www.kvcc.me.edu/library/)
  • Look under Research and Find Books & Videos.
  • Select Keyword, Title, Author, Subject, or Call Number.
  • In the search box type in your keyword, title, author, subject, or call
        number information.
  • Keyword:
        You may use and, and not, or and truncate with the asterisk *.
  • Title: As much of the title as you like.
  • Author: Last name, First name.
  • Subject: For example, Physical Therapy.
  • Call Number: For example, RM.
  • Click the Submit button.
  • Scroll through results.
  • Click on any to bring up individual record.
  • Use the banners at the top and bottom of screen to move forward
        (Next) and backward (Prev). Start Over and Another Search bring you to
        a new search screen. Sort/Limit Search allows you to sort your results or
        to limit by language
        or format, for example VHS. Extended Display gives result list with
        locations.
  • On individual record screen check the Status (look for
        Available) and Call No.
  • Go to shelf, find item and bring to desk to check out with your student
        ID. If Lunder Library does not own a particular item, you can search
        other libraries by going to the box that says Kennebec Valley Community
        College, clicking on arrow, and highlighting All Minerva Locations (at the
        top of the list). You may borrow items from any Minerva library through
        interlibrary loan. If you cannot find a book that you want in Minerva, try
        clicking on the Search InfoNet button to search the University of Maine
        Libraries, Maine State Library, etc. *YOU WILL NEED A STUDENT ID CARD
        TO COMPLETE AN ONLINE BOOK BORROWING REQUEST. PICK YOUR ID
        UP IN KING HALL ROOM 104K. You will be notified when you requested
        material arrives.
  • You can renew your own books by clicking on Renew under the Help
        section of the library web page. Then type in your name and patron
        barcode (number on student ID card). 
  • To finish, close Internet Explorer.

    Off Campus
  • Connect to your internet service provider. (ex. AOL, Time Warner, GWI,
        etc.)
  • Open Internet Explorer.
  • Continue as stated above for on-campus users.
