PubMed Central (PMC) is the U.S. National Institutes of Health free digital archive of biomedical and life sciences journal literature. PMC contains over 1,100,000 articles from over 340 journals. Participation by publishers in PMC is voluntary, although participating journals must meet certain editorial and technical standards. PMC, itself, is not a publisher. Access to PMC is free and unrestricted.
