Federal Pell Grant:
These grants are for extremely needy students and are the first and largest grants to be awarded.
All eligible students will receive awards. Other awards may be added to the student's "financial a
id package" to meet remaining student needs. Awards are available to full-time (12 or more credits
per semester), three-fourths-time (9 to 11 credits per term), half-time (6 to 8 credits per term)
and less-than-half-time (1 to 5 credits per term) enrolled students. Only undergraduates who have
not yet earned a first baccalaureate degree are eligible.
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants (FSEOG):
FSEOG's are awarded to students with exceptional need who are also receiving Federal Pell Grants.
All part-time and full-time students may qualify for awards, but due to limited funding, all eligible
students will not receive awards. Only undergraduates who have not yet earned a first baccalaureate
degree are eligible.
State of Maine Grant Programs:
These awards are to students by the State of Maine who demonstrate level of need and are full-time
students. Part-time awards are available only to students with a certain level of need that are
enrolled at least half-time (6 to 8 credit hours per term). Only undergraduates who have not yet
earned a first baccalaureate degree are eligible.
Bernard Osher Scholarship:
These are available to students who are Maine residents who have a financial need and enrolled
full-time (12 credit hours per term) in associate degree programs. Recipients will be known as
Osher Scholars and must maintain a 2.5 cumulative grade point average to retain eligibility for
continued awards during each year of enrollment.
Osher Scholarships for Students in the Associate of Arts in Liberal Studies Degree program:
These are granted to first-semester, first-year students who are Maine residents taking at least six credits in their first semester and have accumulated no more than 24 college credits.
Rural Initiative Child Care Scholarship:
Funds to assist with child care are available to students who are Maine residents living in certain rural communities. Students can be full or part time but must be in need of financial assistance.

These are available to incoming students who will begin a degree, certificate or diploma
program and are SAD 49 graduates, residents of the Town of Albion, or Marden’s employees.
Application forms are also available from the KVCC Financial Aid Office. First priority
will go to students who will be enrolling in allied health or trade programs who demonstrate
the need for supplemental financial assistance to cover their unique program costs, such
as tools, equipment, supplies, or uniforms; as well as the additional transportation costs
created when commuting to assigned clinical, field and experiential education work sites.
Second priority will go to incoming students who need scholarship funds in order to be able
to enroll at KVCC. Applicants must be Maine residents with a high school average of C or
better, with unmet financial need as determined by the KVCC Financial Aid Office. Therefore,

VETERAN'S BENEFITS
All credit programs and some non-credit courses are approved by the Maine State
Approving Agency for Veterans Education Programs for the use of the various VA
educational assistance programs, more commonly known as “GI Bills.” Qualified
military personnel, veterans, and their eligible dependents who are enrolled in
approved programs may apply for VA benefits through the Financial Aid Office.
Students should obtain VA applications from their Veteran Centers, the KVCC
Financial Aid Office, or by going to www.gibill.va.gov to fill out an online
application as far in advance of course registration as possible. Requests for
Advance Pay of VA benefits must be submitted to the Financial Aid Office 30 days
before the start date of the first semester of enrollment. The Financial Aid
Office will assist students with the VA application process, payment problems,
and other issues that may arise during enrollment. Students who receive VA
benefits may also qualify for other financial aid programs offered by the
College and are encouraged to apply.
