MAS - Responsibilities

Medical Assistants are health care's most multi-skilled medical professionals.  Medical Assistants are prepared in administrative and clinical procedures consisting of scheduling patient appointments, billing, transcription, diagnostic coding, and knowledge of legal and ethical issues.

Clinically, Medical Assistants perform diagnostic test, triage, obtain patient history and vital signs, administer medications and immunizations, and prepare and assist the physician with office surgery.

Medical Assistants may work in a physicians office, hospital labs or federally funded healthcare programs. You can also find them in specialty offices such as dentists, podiatrists, chiropractor's office, and many other health care fields.
