KVCC Students named to All-Maine Academic Team
Fairfield, ME – Two Kennebec Valley Community College (KVCC) students have been named to the 2014 All-Maine Academic Team for two-year colleges.
The students will be among 14 students from Maine’s seven community colleges honored at a ceremony on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at the Maple Hill Farm Inn and Conference Center in Hallowell. The event will be hosted by the Maine Community College System (MCCS) Board of Trustees.
The KVCC students receiving the award and a $500 scholarship are Charles Feyler of South China and Keith Sullivan of Fairfield.
Feyler, 40, is enrolled in the Computer Science program at KVCC. He is president of the KVCC chapter of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society, a recipient of the Academic Excellence Award and the Supportive Leader Award, a student orientation and registration volunteer, a student instructor, and a volunteer at the Whitefield recycling station.
Sullivan, 42, is enrolled in the Medical Assisting program at KVCC. He is a member of the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society; a recipient of the Leading by Example Award, Student Orientation and Registration Leadership Award, and Leadership Award for Outstanding Peer Support in English 101; a Thanksgiving food drive volunteer; and a Police Athletic League volunteer.
The All-Maine Academic Team is part of the national Phi Theta Kappa program, an international honor society for two-year colleges. Students are nominated and selected for the team by their college based on outstanding academic achievement, leadership, and service. The All-Maine Academic Team program is co-sponsored by Bangor Daily News, Creative Awards of Scarborough, Phi Theta Kappa, and the MCCS.
