Basic Machining

 

This 45-hour class is designed for the person who wants to learn  basic machining skills.  Topics for this class include: safe work habits, reading and using proper measuring tools, proper and efficient machining techniques, and recognize proper work holding techniques.  Students will also learn to demonstrate and understand the proper use of the lathe, the milling machine, and the grinder.  Other topics include: selecting proper cutting tools for various applications, utilizing proper tools and tool holders, cutting threads on a lathe, turning between centers, shop math, speed and feed calculations for turning, milling and drilling and bench work and layout.
