ENERGY SERVICES AND TECHNOLOGY CENTER
Maine’s Gateway to Frontiers of Opportunity
Rising energy costs and climate change have created significant interest in energy efficient technology and the use of renewable energy sources. To reduce cost and promote a sustainable energy economy, energy efficient strategies and the natural resources found in Maine must be utilized. This will save money, create local jobs, keep energy dollars in the State, and encourage sustainability. However, to facilitate this transition, the need for properly trained designers and installers of these Maine based energy efficient systems has never been higher. The Energy Services and Technology (EST) Center at KVCC has been created to meet this need and serve the region and the State of Maine as the premiere centralized resource for education and training for energy services and renewable energy technologies.
One Stop for Energy Services
KVCC's EST Center provides a unique "one-stop" approach to energy education, where students are exposed to traditional and renewable technologies under one roof. The Center's diverse offerings in energy education, both credit and non-credit, provide students, professionals, and members of the general public the opportunity to explore any or all of the energy disciplines they have an interest in. The learning experience is also enhanced with instruction and hands on training in one of the most advanced energy training facilities in the Northeast. With this holistic approach to energy education, students will be prepared to enter the workforce, pursue a bachelor's degree program, or enhance an existing skill set. Further, as a result of an experience in the EST Center, students will be prepared to determine the most cost-effective and environmentally responsible energy systems currently available on the market.
