Alumni

The Occupational Therapy Assistant Program graduated its first class in May of 1994. Many changes have occurred since then but we still remain a program full of vitality, spirit and purpose.

There are in excess of 200 graduates from the OTA program. We are proud of all of them. We keep in touch with many through fieldwork, email, KVCC workshops and MeOTA conferences. Our alumni work in pediatric development centers, schools, skilled nursing facilities, hospital based acute care and rehabilitation, inpatient and community mental health facilities, home health facilities, colleges, non traditional environments and more. They work full time, part time and per diem. They work in Maine, throughout NE and nationally. Some have gone on to further education to achieve their degrees in other areas of healthcare or as Occupational Therapists.

If you are an alumnus and are interested in connecting with us for service or learning opportunities we invite you to call us at (207) 453-5172. If you have any ideas for this alumni page please let us know.

The OTA faculty along with the OTA Advisory Board held a reunion of all graduating classes to celebrate 10 years of OTA education on June 12, 2004. We hope to hold a 20th in 2014!

ALUMNI TESTIMONIAL

My name is Melissa Tilton and I am a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant who graduated from KVCC in 1995. My experience at KVCC has allowed me to secure a challenging career in a health care field that is ever growing. I have been able to apply my skills learned in the OTA program to both entry-level OTA jobs and management positions in the field of Occupational Therapy. Now, 10 years later I volunteer with The Maine Occupational Therapy Association (MEOTA) as the OTA Representative to encourage and promote other OTAs to become involved, share their knowledge and set new goals. I am able to share my experiences and successes of KVCC education through my own career, MEOTA and speaking to first and second year OTA students at KVCC. My KVCC experience has been the foundation for me, Thanks KVCC!

Respectfully, Melissa J. Tilton, COTA/L

Keep in touch—we’d love to see you. Best regards to all,

Diane
